100 INSPIRING RAFFLESIANS
1823–2003

by Tan Guan Heng

This enlightening book describes the lives and achievements of eminent Rafflesians from Raffles Institution, Raffles Girls'; School and Raffles Junior College, many of whom have served in the Singapore public and community service in the highest positions. The biographies contain little known facts of interest, which have been embellished with personal anecdotes obtained from those interviewed.

The book also represents a brave undertaking by a visually handicapped person, who is himself a Rafflesian.

“In tracing the careers of these varied people … tantalising snippets of national history are recounted in brief quotes from their lives. These alone make the book a fascinating read … Beyond history, 100 Inspiring Rafflesians is an inspirational book about making something of your own life. Whether your aspirations are humble or elevated, whether you are from a simple or advantaged background, the message in each and every one of the stories within is the same: you can make your own success.”
